Saskatchewan, Canada Waterfowl Hunting

Backwater Waterfowl offers fully guided all inclusive Waterfowl Hunts in southeastern Saskatchewan, Canada in the heart of the Central Flyway. Millions of ducks, geese and cranes stage on the prairies of Saskatchewan as they begin their southern migration across Saskatchewan down the central flyway.

You will have the opportunity to harvest over ten species of ducks and over five sub species of Canada Geese ranging from Giant Greaters to small cacklers as well as Snow Geese, Specklebellies, and Sandhill Cranes. The Waterfowl hunting is some of the best in the world and it's not uncommon to have thousands of ducks and geese decoy at one time. It truly is one of the most amazing destinations for a waterfowl hunters.

Our hunts take place in five wildlife zones which consist of countless agricultural fields as well as many playa lakes that dot the landscape. At Backwater, we use the the best equipment in the industry hunting out of comfortable layout blinds and over an expansive spread of full body decoys.

Saskatchewan Hunting Packages

Our hunting packages consists of 3, 5, and 6 days depending on how long you want to enjoy yourself. A 3 day package would consist of 3 morning hunts and 2 afternoon hunts. A 6 day package would consist of 6 morning hunts and 5 afternoon hunts. We plan our packages to accommodate you. Our normal routine is to setup for Geese in the morning and hunt Ducks in the afternoon. This is solely up to you. You may decide that you want to concentrate on Snow Geese or Ducks. We pride ourselves in being able to accommodate your party. It is not uncommon to shoot a limit of Canada Geese and Ducks in the morning and then chase Snow Geese or Cranes in the afternoon. We also have a healthy population of Grouse and Partridge in the area, and your more than welcome to chase them in the afternoon.

We hunt the month of October. Saskatchewan is allowing Sunday hunting this year and we are looking forward to it.

Items to Bring:

Shotgun(12-20 gauge one you are comfortable shooting) , Camo Clothing(mild to cold weather gear), Camo Gloves, Camo Facemask, Waterproof Boots, and a Camera(don't forget it).

Trip Info

You will need to fly into Regina, Saskatchewan the day prior to hunting trip. From there most hunters rent a vehicle(SUV recommended) and drive to the lodge which is located a scenic one hour away. You will receive a detailed map after booking your trip.

Carrying your gun into Canada is very easy to do. You will have to fill out some paperwork to get your gun(s) into Canada. It is a very simple process. You can print off the form here:

and fill out the info prior to your trip just don't sign it till your in front of the customs agent as it is a declaration.

IMPORTANT: A U.S. Passport is required to enter Canada. Any Criminal Record you may have could deny you entry in Canada.(DUI,DWI). Please contact Canadian Customs prior to your trip to make necessary arrangements.
